Steinar Bye, Senior Vice President, will head the newly-created Risk Management Department, responsible for risk management, management reporting, data warehousing and analysis.

Nina Hovland has been appointed Senior Underwriter in the Insurance Department, Marine.

Helenka Leary has been appointed Senior Lawyer in the Defence Department.

John Martin, Senior Claims Executive and Average Adjuster at Gard (HK) Ltd, will be seconded to Arendal from 10th April until mid-October 2006.

Svein Andersen, Vice President of the Dry Cargo Claims section of the Claims Department, P&I, will be seconded to Gard (HK) Ltd from 2nd May to mid-October 2006.

Jim Edwards has joined the Defence Department as Senior Lawyer. He will be the primary Defence contact for Greek members. Jim was one of the founding partners of More Fisher Brown, where he practised for 17 years. Prior to that, he worked at Richards Butler, Sinclair Roche & Temperley and Steamship Mutual.

Mark Baynham has joined the Claims Department (London) as Claims Executive. Mark has a chief engineer’s ticket, having worked for P&O Nedlloyd, Hoverspeed P&O Ferries, Mobil, Holland America and Royal & SunAlliance.

Jan Sundberg has joined Oy Gard (Baltic) in Helsinki as Claims Executive in the P&I and Marine Claims Department. Jan is a qualified master mariner with 15 years’ sailing experience, including as chief officer with Royal Caribbean and several Finnish cargo and passenger vessels.

Erling Johnsen has retired after more than 31 years with Gard. Erling was a member of the Gard News Editorial Committee for many years and was seconded to Gard (HK) Ltd between 2002 and 2006. We thank him for his services and friendship and wish him a long and happy retirement.

Harald Hansson has resigned from his position as Senior Claims Executive in Gard (Sweden) AB. We thank him for his services and wish him all the best for the future.

Helle Ruhaven has resigned from her position as Claims Executive in the Claims Department, P&I. We thank her for her services and wish her well in the future.
