11 September 2018 -Gard announced the 2018 winner of the Claes Isacson Scholarship following its Annual General Meeting in Arendal on Friday, 7 September. The Scholarship winner for this year is Robert Michael Veal from the United Kingdom. He is a PhD student at the University of Southampton, specialising in the legal issues arising from the use of marine autonomous systems.
Announcing the winner, Rolf Thore Roppestad, CEO of Gard commented “Knowledge and expertise are pillars of excellence on which Gard is built and supporting this scholarship is tangible evidence of our commitment to the education and training of the next generation of talent.
“I am delighted to say that the standard of applicants gets higher every year and it is encouraging to see such a high level of interest in careers in shipping and marine insurance. Robert is a worthy winner from a competitive field of candidates.”
