China - Prevention and control of marine pollution from ships - Qianhe

Members are referred to Gard’s news item dated 1 May 2015 concerning the Qianhe Shipping Group of SPROs and the problems encountered due to ongoing investigations by the PRC authorities. The updated information is as follows:
We understand that the following Qianhe SPROs (Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen) are currently unable to perform their SPRO functions. Members currently signed up to any of them will need to seek alternative SPRO cover.
Those Members who are currently signed up to one of these Qianhe SPROs but whose ships are not likely to visit these areas within the next 30 days may wish to terminate their agreements and seek new SPRO cover.
Alternatively, Members may wish to negotiate an agreement with Qianhe Ningbo on behalf of the affected Qianhe SPROs providing for alternative arrangements on a voyage-by-voyage basis.
Members wishing to terminate an agreement or to negotiate some form of amendment are recommended to seek PRC legal advice and may contact the Club for further assistance in this regard.
