Notice of Annual General Meeting of Gard P. & I. (Bermuda) Ltd


The  Annual General Meeting of Gard P. & I. (Bermuda) Ltd. will be held on Thursday, 21 June 2018 at the offices of its Manager, Lingard Limited. This meeting is a requirement under Bermuda law and is a formality only. The Club's Members are not required to be present in person at the meeting.

New directive prevents Gard from covering beneficiaries’ bank charges in the EU and EEA


Gard has in place a banking arrangement whereby Gard in certain circumstances covers the cost of payments, including those incurred by the beneficiary’s bank. This has allowed payments to be received in full by the beneficiary, without deduction of fees.

Gard announced today that Mark Russell has been appointed Managing Director of the Hong Kong office effective 1 August, 2018, replacing Trygve Nøkleby who will be returning to Gard in Bergen in a senior position.

Gard and the World Maritime University: how supporting one can benefit many


Gard has been a partner of the World Maritime University (WMU) since 2011. Each year, one student is offered a sponsorship, the Gard Fellowship, which covers the cost of one year of higher education within the marine industry.

An introduction to the International Group of P&I Clubs


Gard is the largest member of the International Group of P&I Clubs. The International Group currently has 13 member clubs which collectively provide liability insurance for more than 90 per cent of the world’s ocean-going tonnage and more than 95 per cent of the world’s ocean going tankers.

Gard participates in new project testing biodegradable lubricants


Gard, together with classification society DNV GL and the marine insurers The Swedish Club, Norwegian Hull Club and Skuld launch a new joint development project to test the potential influence of Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) on failures in stern tube bearings. DNV GL will oversee the detailed laboratory testing of EALs at the University of Sheffield, UK.
