Examples of Ice clauses used in insurance policies

With focus on onboard experience and ship construction

Insurance contracts on NMIP conditions:
The following shall be a safety regulation as per ยง 3-22:
Master and/or senior officers on duty shall have experience to trade in ice conditions, or in the absence of such experience an ice pilot shall be assisting on board the vessel.

Insurance Contracts on other conditions:
Warranted Master and/or officer on duty shall have experience to trade in ice, or in the absence of such experience an ice pilot shall be assisting on board the vessel.

Warranted Class and Public Authorities requirements in respect of construction and main engine specifications and propulsion plant needed to trade under existing conditions in these waters are complied with. Warranted vessel not breaking ice. Any loss caused by breach of Warranties is not recoverable under this insurance.
